Question 17

There's been a bit of confusion about Question 17 in the Census...

Personally, I ticked all of them.

Art is the new currency

Scott Campbell is a Brooklyn tattoo artist. He charges $300 an hour.

His tattoos are pretty amazing but I'm more a fan of his laser cut art.

He started off with a stack of dollar bills and now sources uncut sheets directly from the US Mint to create large, intricate works with a sunken relief effect.

The bottom piece uses $11,000 worth of currency sheets to create a two-foot cube into which a three dimensional skull is carved-out.

Yes. Scott does like a skull.

Uh oh...

After all the good work Mad Men did for advertising... Spurlock's back.

Winding your way down to Baker Street...

Take a minute to admire the Sherlock Holmes posters on the Tube.

There's cold blooded murder...
Recreational whipping of bandit women...

And some lighthearted 'dead man washed up on beach' fun.

Almost as disturbing as the 90's...

Couple of designers short of a picnic table

A design team in the Netherlands have come up with this little gem.

A picnic table that rises out of the pavement via a hydraulic system.

Just one question. What's dutch for 'dumbass'?

Not-so-covert operation

Artist and writer Trevor Paglen has been documenting the secret activities of the U.S. military and intelligence agencies for the last eight years.

He uses long-range photography to shoot top-secret governmental 'black sites' and uses the data of amateur satellite watchers to track and photograph classified spacecraft in Earth's orbit.

He also collects patches worn by military units working on classified missions. The projects are known by weird names like "Goat Suckers" and "Tastes Like Chicken" and illustrated with occult symbols and strange cartoons. I expect I'm not the only one keeping tabs on his work...

Shiver me timbers

Where thousands see a tasty meal with a hot, hearty filling...

The rest of us see a pirate reduced to eating his own foot.

This one gets the opposable thumbs up

WookieLeaks shock

More dirt at #wookieleaks

Came across this designer who collects hundreds of old drawers, doors, fittings and fixtures before finding the right combination to construct a new piece of furniture. Pretty cool and strangely satisfying.

No such thing as a new idea.

Our 2008 ad for The Sun newspaper.

Bugger.

Vertigo Championships: Russia vs France

Unfortunately both teams failed the drug test. Shame.

Multiplication Monday

What do camera shops, pigeons, leprosy, portrait sittings and mathematical music have in common?

Absolutely nothing. Except they were the five random subjects for last night's '5x15' speakers.

Not a lot of people know that...

This month is the 40th anniversary of Get Carter.

A great film deserves a great impersonation.

The Typhoon pilot radios, "How much closer do you want me?"

Pilot radios, ”Close enough?”

Beware the consequences of envy

Our latest ad for Peugeot...

I wonder what 'The Pool Cleaner' would make of it?

Here's a little bit of behind the scenes...

And a chance to be the envy of your neighbours.

The past is bright... the past is Orange.

Look closely at the picture.
You can see someone talking on their mobile phone.
Which is no big deal...

Until you find out it was taken in 1928.
At the Hollywood premier of Charlie Chaplin's film 'Circus'.

Still intrigued? This rather tedious man has more...
